Especially in the summer, when it’s very hot in Argentina, the people are very thankful for a cooling-down. There are many beaches at the province of Buenos Aires, some of them are well-known and favoured by the tourists, but others aren’t still discovered and are, although, much more quiet. Who likes time of relax, enjoying the sun and going for holidays to the ocean, it´s such a good decision Argentina´s coast.
The most famous seaside resort is Mar del Plata. There are living about 600.000 people. At first, in 1874 the city was just a port town with minor importance, but when it was connected to the railway network, more people came to visit the city and finally, in 1890, it developed into a popular seaside resort.
A total of 20 kilometers of beach can be count in Mar del Plata.
Another nice beach is located in Aguas Verdes. It is a very quiet and secluded beach that is usually covered by flood. Beaches are about 100 meters wide. The dunes are fixed and in some cases up to 6 meters high. So they are well suited to explore the area on a horse or to do sandboarding.
Besides, another well-known seaside resort in Argentina is Necochea. This city is both resort and port city and is much smaller than Mar del Plata. Here are living about 89,000 people.
Necochea was built more or less at the same time like Mar del Plata, but become much later, in 1930 a popular seaside resort. In 1970 the city was modernized.
On the beaches of Quequén which forms the second part of the city, there is a huge ship wreck. It is also not far away from the beach «Las Grutas», which is also a nice place to go.
One of the most beautiful beaches of Buenos Aires is in Reta. This beach is much unknown and just a few people go there. It is therefore ideal to relax. It´s little and very rurally.
Another better-known beach is in Pinamar, which is also very beautiful. The resort is smaller than Necochea, with about 20,000 inhabitants. Pinamar has wide sandbeaches and is located on a flat part of the Atlantic coast.
Until 1978, Pinamar was recognized as a distinct community. It is a very rapidly growing city and has quadrupled the population in 20 years.
If you ever wanted to go to Atlantis, now you have the opportunity. How? That should be impossible? In Argentina, it is possible if you go to «Nueva Atlantis“: it is a quiet beach resort and, very close to another beach, Mar de Ajó.
The beaches of Nueva Atlantis are wide and have high dunes. If you are looking for a quiet corner of nature, this is the right place. Very nice and not too far away from the capital: Pinar del Sol.
It is a very unspoilt area near a forest, so it is ideal to relax. Some beaches form part of the «Partido de la costa» at Buenos Aires province.
These includes: San Clemente del Tuyú, Las toninas, Costa Chica, Santa Teresita, Mar del Tuyú, Costa del Este, Aguas Verdes, La Lucila del Mar, Costa Azul, San Bernardo del Tuyú, Mar de Ajo, Nueva Atlantis, Pinar del Sol , Costa Esmeralda.
There are, of course, many more beaches, such as Costa Azul, Costa Esmeralda, Cariló and Pehuenco, just to name a few.
The most beautiful beaches are certainly the ones in the province of Buenos Aires, but it’s possible going to swim in the capital.
There are two beaches which are owned by the government. One in the north of the city, called: “Parque de Niños” and one at the south, it´s “Parque Roca”. These are closed beaches, and only open from 10 to 20 o’clock (on monday they are closed), but there’s no need to pay an entrance.
